Becoming a Successful Home-Based Entrepreneur

Working from home is not second to becoming a successful home business entrepreneur. As a matter of fact, there are many business opportunities that can hike your career and allow you to work at home. There are work-at-home business owners pursuing job opportunities and succeeding!

Ask yourself if you possess the characteristics studies have shown to be in successful home business entrepreneurs:

1. Self-confidence?
This is having confidence in yourself and in your strengths and abilities–not bravado but an unshakeable belief in yourself.

2. Achievement Oriented?
Results are gained by focused, persistent effort and concentration on achieving a specific goal–not just a string of unrelated tasks.

3. Risk Taker?
You have the confidence necessary to take deliberate risks to get to your goal in spite of the chance of failure.

So which of these three main characteristics is the most important? Without a doubt, it is self-confidence. Your success depends on it! You must believe in your abilities, so that setbacks cannot knock you off the path to achieving your goals. Keep these things in mind:

First is positive thinking. It all starts with a positive attitude! Believing that something good will happen is vital. Negative thinking is simply not allowed (so stop it right now). You must truly believe that there are no circumstances hard enough to discourage you from reaching your goals. Repeat to yourself every morning, “Every day, in every way, I am getting better and better.” You might be surprised that this simple exercise has been getting results since the early 1900s! Positive thinking is contagious. When positive thinking spreads, it opens you to new ideas, new customers, and new heights in your life.

Second is to practice persistent action. All the positive thinking and believing in the world is useless if it is not applied towards a goal. You must take action; no excuses allowed. This action must be unrelenting. Trying once and then giving up is not going to be sufficient for success! Keep at it one step at a time. Find inventive ways to overcome or go around obstacles.

Entrepreneurs are people who make calculated decisions, take specific action and pursue their own destinies. They are motivated by a spirit of independence and honestly believe that their success depends on raw effort and hard work, not luck. As Ronald Reagan pointed out: Entrepreneurs and their small enterprises are responsible for almost all the economic growth in the United States.

Look ahead and see yourself where you want to be, maintain a strong belief in yourself and your skills, stick with it, and never give up. If you can do that, you’re already halfway there!

Sir Winston Churchill (1874 – 1965) once said:
“Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.”
“For myself I am an optimist – it does not seem to be much use being anything else.”

So onwards and forward!
